Better-for-you beverages are at the head of the class for this year's back-to-school season at Boulder, Colo.-based Wild Oats.
In an e-mail newsletter distributed two weeks ago, Wild Oats highlighted several drinks as "back-to-school bargains."
Silk Live! soy smoothies, 10 ounces, were promoted at four for $5. The new beverages contain 19 nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, folic acid, potassium and vitamins A, B, C, D and E. They come in peach, strawberry and other flavors.
"These new smoothies are not only a steal, but also sensational in packed lunches," the Wild Oats newsletter read.
The smoothies are marketed by White Wave, also here. Marketer of Silk soymilk, White Wave is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dean Foods.
Wild Oats also featured Glaceau Smartwater at $3.99 each for a six-pack of 25.3-ounce bottles. Glaceau is marketed by Energy Brands, Whitestone, N.Y.
