LAS VEGAS -- Supermarket executives in charge of the video category were warmly welcomed to the Home Entertainment 2005 convention of the Video Software Dealers Association, Encino, Calif., here late last month. The information-packed show opened with the first breakfast meeting of VSDA's Grocers' Council. Another highlight was the annual supermarket dinner hosted by distributor Ingram Entertainment, La Vergne, Tenn. During the convention, Schnuck Markets, St. Louis, was presented with SN's Supermarket Entertainment Retailer of the Year Award, and Giant Eagle, Pittsburgh, was given VSDA's Retailer of the Year Award in the Grocer/Mass Merchant category. For the first time in several years, all the major studios attended the show. Meanwhile, individual business meetings, educational sessions, parties and celebrity sightings were plentiful during the annual event.
