Now in its 35th year, the Laguna Hills, Calif.-based Southern California Frozen Food Council's Retail Display contest recognizes retail clerks, salesmen and women, and teams for their outstanding frozen food displays during March's National Frozen Food Month. In addition to the annual display contest, the council hosts an annual merchandising and advertising contest for retail chains, brokers and direct-sales companies. A full 30-day promotion, use of a theme and the NFFA logo must be present in the displays. Retail chains, brokers and directs tie in to the local frozen food council's special events and trade advertising, also using the local Frozen Food Month theme. Creative advertising, merchandising support, communication and imagination are a few criteria used when judging the entries, said Debra Van Der Weide, the council's executive director.
