CHICAGO -- The IGA International Retailers of the Year Awards are given annually to seven retail operators who best exemplify IGA's "Hometown Proud" spirit by providing leadership within their communities and the IGA system through excellence achieved in their operations.

Del Stickland, an IGA member since 1992, operates IGA Belmont, a 19,100-square-foot supermarket in Belmont, Australia. The store has sales per square foot of $769 (U.S.) -- among the highest in Australia -- and annual sales of about $13 million (U.S.).
Dan Gustafson and Jim McMilin own Lee & Dad's IGA in Belgrade, Mont. An IGA member since 1985, Lee & Dad's last year enlarged the store 10,000 square feet to a size of 30,000 square feet, boosting annual volume 25% to more than $10 million.
Kazuo Ogawa owns Super Ogawa IGA, Tokyo, a 2,700-square-foot store that serves 2,500 customers a day. The store, one of the first Japanese stores to join IGA in 1988, has sales per square foot of $4,450 and annual sales of $12 million.
Dominick Tiberio operates Tiberio's Red Hook IGA, a 20,000-square-foot store in Red Hook, N.Y., with annual sales of $10.5 million. It has been an IGA member since 1977.
Joe Schreiber operates Service Plus IGA, Newport, Ky., a group of four stores (29,000 to 42,000 square feet) in the Cincinnati suburbs of northern Kentucky. Annual sales last year were about $24 million for the three stores in operation. (A fifth unit was slated to open this year.) Schreiber has been an IGA member since 1983.
John Olszeski operates Hartville IGA, Hartville, Ohio, a group of five stores ranging from 13,700 to 50,000 square feet and doing annual sales of $55 million.
