SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Big Y Foods here has introduced bigger muffins, "Big Y World Class Muffins."
it. An illustration of a plate of assorted muffins is featured, and a burst of type proclaims, "New!" The ad says, "Choose from blueberry, cranberry, corn, bran or our muffin of the month." The muffin of this month, the ad says, is lemon poppy. The price: six for $1.99.
Officials at Big Y could not be reached for comment. A store source said the muffins weigh about a third of a pound each. Their every-day price is 59 cents each. They're made fresh each day in-store from a mix, and are offered in the self-service case, the source said.
