NEW YORK — Fairway Market is holding a presidential election of its own with limited-edition fresh baked cupcakes featuring election-related images.
The Republican vs. Democrat cupcakes will sell through Nov. 5 for $1.49 each. The retailer will then tally and announce how many of each were sold in its 11 stores.
Both versions of the cupcakes have a vanilla cake base. The Republican cupcake features red icing with a red, white and blue elephant; the Democrat cupcake has blue icing with a red, white and blue donkey.

"With all the bitterness emanating from the campaign, Fairway Market is eager to put some sweetness in the battle for the White House," Herb Ruetsch, chief executive officer of Fairway Market, said in a statement.
