Whole Foods collaborates with microbrewery

The Whole Foods Market Brewing Co. in Houston has launched its first collaboration beer.

Whole Buffalo Saison is the result of a partnership between Whole Foods Brewing Co. and Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co., also in Houston.

Whole Buffalo Saison is a 7% ABV saison that incorporates Texas grapefruit and coriander along with hops from Germany, New Zealand and the U.S.

Whole Buffalo Saison now on tap. This flavorful saison was brewed with Texas red grapefruit and coriander in collaboration with Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company.

The draft-only release was officially launched March 5 at a Whole Foods beer-paring dinner.

A popular trend in the craft beer business, collaboration beers are created through the partnership of two or more breweries. Typically sold for a limited time, collaboration brews are appealing because they let brewers test new flavors and styles.

Whole Foods Brewing Co., a micobrew pub that operates inside Whole Foods' Post Oak store in Houston, sells the saison on tap as well as in growlers:
