Kudos to SN's Tech Award Winners

Supermarket News will be presenting the 2010 Technology Excellence Awards Tuesday morning at the FMI show at the “Consumers Rule” workshop, which runs from 8 am to 8:50 am. The actual presentations will come towards the end of the workshop, around 8:40 am.

In case you missed it, the winning companies are Save Mart Supermarkets (chain category), Nature’s Best (wholesaler category) and E.W. James & Sons (independent category). Profiles describing each company’s use of technology appeared in last week’s SN and are available on www.supermarketnews.com. I also plan to conduct video interviews with some or all of the winning companies’ representatives at the show; the videos will appear in the near future on our website.

I’m looking forward to meeting those folks, including Aashish Chandra of Save Mart, Jim Beck and Brian McCarthy of Nature’s Best and Ken Pink of E.W. James.

SN launched the Technology Excellence Awards program in 2003 and have been selecting winners annually since then. You can read profiles of every winning company at www.supermarketnews.com/awards.

Besides the “Consumers Rule” workshop, I will be attending other technology workshops at the show, including “Data Security” on Tuesday morning, and “New Ways of Working Together” and “Shopper-Centric Assortment” on Wednesday morning. Look for blog posts and web items on those workshops, as well as articles in next week’s SN. Plus I will be meeting with some vendors on the exhibit floor. It’s going to be a busy show. Aren’t they all?
