Food Lion to Give Neighborhood Free Groceries

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion is asking shoppers to guess the next stop of Operation Grocery Drop.

“Operation Grocery Drop is back, and this time, we’re doing a tour of a major U.S. city, giving out free groceries along the way,” Food Lion wrote on Facebook Tuesday.

All those who make a guess on Facebook are entered to win a $50 Food Lion gift card.

Under Operation Grocery Drop, Food Lion gives free My Essentials private-label groceries to every household on the winning block. Each household receives $15 to $25 worth of groceries, up to $2,500.

This is the first 2013 stop for Operation Grocery Drop this year. Operation Grocery Drop made stops in Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C.; and Richmond, Va., and other cities last year.
