WASHINGTON — Dollar General Corp., the Kroger Co. and CVS/pharmacy were chosen by their manufacturer trading partners as the inaugural recipients of the Grocery Manufacturers Association’s Retail Honors awards.

Retailer of the Year, Dollar General; Most Innovative Retailer, CVS/pharmacy; and Most Collaborative Retailer, Kroger, will receive their awards at the Retail Honors Dinner at GMA's Shopper Momentum Conference in Naples, Fla., next Tuesday.

Dollar General impressed a panel of judges composed of manufacturer and sales agency executives from the GMA Sales Committee and the Industry Development and Advisory Committee, with its ability to deliver growth, execution of in-store merchandising plans, strong shopper loyalty and employee morale.

CVS/pharmacy stood out due to its ability to generate and test new concepts in partnerships with manufacturers, its innovative marketing campaigns, and demonstration of industry leadership in new ways of thinking.

Kroger distinguished itself with its active participation and flexibility in joint business planning, successful partnerships in shopper marketing programs and focus on collective measurements of performance and successes.

“On behalf of our members, GMA is pleased to recognize those retail partners that have gone above and beyond to help create growth, customer loyalty and innovation in the marketplace,” said Denny Belcastro, GMA's executive vice president of industry affairs and member services, in a statement.
