QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover here, in partnership with Edy’s Grand Ice Cream, will host a Free Scoop Day as part of the retailer’s Triple Winner Program to raise funds for pediatric cancer. The events will be held at all Stop & Shop and Giant-Landover locations on Saturday, May 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. Visitors who donate $1 to the Jimmy Fund, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center or Children’s Cancer Foundation will receive a free scoop of ice cream. “This promotion brings new meaning to the ‘Triple Winner,’” said Stop & Shop and Giant-Landover President and Chief Executive Officer Jose Alvarez in a statement. “By being a part of Free Scoop Day, customers receive a tasty treat and they’ll get the satisfaction of supporting a terrific cause.” This is the second year that Edy’s and Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover hosted Free Scoop Day. Edy’s Triple Winner Neapolitan ice cream, which is only available at Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover stores, will also help generate a maximum donation of $25,000 from Edy’s to benefit the children’s cancer charities.
