WASHINGTON — Attendees of the Grocery Manufacturers Association's Sustainability Summit raised their glasses to the abounding economic opportunities that exist for trading partners willing to adopt ecologically sound business practices.

Representatives from Safeway, Wal-Mart and Kroger presented strategies for limiting waste and conserving natural resources while improving their bottom lines.

The GMA also showed its willingness to be a friend of the environment. It promoted the show paperlessly with online materials and placed recycling bins throughout the show floor.
