CHICAGO — Kroger, Target and the Wakefern Food Corp.’s private-label efforts were honored yesterday at the Private Label Manufacturers Association’s annual trade show here. All three companies received a Salute to Excellence award for superior private-label products and services. European drug chain dm-drogerie.markt was also recognized. Kroger won in the supermarket division for a variety of store-brand initiatives, including its Disney Magic line and its personal finance offerings, such as pet and life insurance. Target received the mass merchandiser award for the variety in its Market Pantry, Archer Farms and other labels. Wakefern was honored in the co-op/wholesaler category for deepening its commitment to kosher and imported specialty products, along with its ShopRite Rewards MasterCard.
