ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Highly concentrated Wegmans Advanced 2x Laundry Detergent joined similarly sized national-brand formulas on the retailer’s shelves this month. The higher concentration means that you can use half as much detergent, yet still clean the same number of loads with a much smaller bottle. Available in five varieties, including Regular, Bleach Alternative, Free of Dyes & Perfumes, Mountain Fresh and High Efficiency, Wegmans’ formulas use plant-based, rather than petroleum-based, cleaning agents, according to the retailer. Because the new packaging and formulas take up less shelf space, provide convenience for consumers and require less plastic and water, ultra-concentrated laundry detergents have become the category’s biggest trend.
