Acosta Names Hill President, Chief Operating Officer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Robert Hill Jr. has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Acosta Sales and Marketing Co. here, announced its chairman and chief executive officer, Gary R. Chartrand, last week. In his new role Hill, who is Acosta‘s former president of operations, will be responsible for managing all of Acosta Inc.‘s business operations. “Over the past 13 years Robert has demonstrated a proven track record to execute in all areas of our business,” Chartrand said in a statement. “Given his vast industry experience and sharp client focus we know he will continue to make tremendous contributions to our business.” Chartrand also announced the appointment of Jack Laurendeau to vice chairman of Acosta‘s board of directors. Laurendeau has served on its board since 1999. As vice chairman, he will oversee operations as well as the development of new business platforms for Acosta Inc. Both appointments were effective immediately. Separately, Acosta said Friday that it had completed the acquisitions of Crawford and Co. Brokerage, Wichita, Kan.; Impact Food Sales, Salt Lake City; and Amalgamated Brokerage Corp., Phoenix. The three regional sales agencies expand Acosta's presence in perishables, the company said.
