ALBANY, N.Y. — D'Agostino Supermarkets President and Chief Operating Officer Nicholas D'Agostino III was recently named chairman of the Food Industry Alliance of New York State here. “Gov. Patterson is supporting expansion of the ‘Bottle Law’ and the capture of of escheats to generate revenue for the state,” said D’Agostino in a statement. “As chairman, I can assure New York food retailers that FIA will be unwavering in its continued aggressive opposition to ‘Bottle’ expansion and to the confiscation of unclaimed deposits.” He will also push for adoption of the “Wine in Supermarkets” proposal in the state. "Having Nick [D’Agostino] as our chairman gives FIA the distinct advantages of a well-known and well-respected industry leader and New Yorker at the helm, said FIA President Jim Rogers, in a statement. “FIA is fortunate to have someone of his reputation, vision, and intellect — especially during this transitional phase in state government." The FIA is the only statewide trade association in New York representing the grocery industry that serves to advance and protect the interests of its membership, according to the FIA.
