GMA, AFFI Join Partnership for Food Safety

WASHINGTON — The Grocery Manufacturers Association and the American Frozen Food Institute have joined the Partnership for Food Safety Education as contributing members. GMA and AFFI have joined forces with the Partnership’s Fight BAC! campaign and the new Be Food Safe campaign, designed to bring basic consumer safe food handling messages to places where people shop for food. The food safety group also appointed to its board Robert E. Brackett, senior vice president and chief science and regulatory affairs officer of GMA, and Leslie G. Sarasin, president and chief executive officer of AFFI. “To have an impact on foodborne illness we must engage all food and consumer product associations and their member companies in consumer education,” said Partnership Board Chairman Bryan Silbermann, in a statement.
