Feb 7, 2008 6:00 AM
SAN ANTONIO — H.E. Butt Grocery's Central Market division will host a three-day chocolate festival beginning tomorrow. “Taste your way around our unique world of chocolate February 8, 9 and 10, dipping into rippling, melting chocolate fountains with strawberries, bananas, pretzels, poundcake,” Central Market says in promotional materials. Central Market is using the event to encourage people to make their Valentine’s Day purchases at its stores. “We are your Valentine’s Day headquarters,” Central Market says. “From elaborate chocolate heart boxes to our vast selection of Valentine’s bulk candy—we have it all!” In other Central Market news, the division’s Westgate store will offer "Love Bites", a six-course tapas and wine-tasting party on Feb. 8 and 9. Executive Chef John Maxwell will prepare a menu that includes Butter Poached Lobster with Caviar and White Chocolate Foam; Warm Fried Brie with Candied Figs; and Sherry and Green Olive Tapenade. Each tapas course will be paired with a different wine. Tickets are $40 a person.
