IGA to Tie In With Wounded Warrior Project

CHICAGO — IGA here said it is joining forces for the third year in a row with the Wounded Warrior Project to raise funds through a tie-in with IGA exclusive brands.

The initiative, which is scheduled to run from Memorial Day through Sept. 3, is expected to generate donations up to $200,000, IGA said. Tie-in items that will carry the WWP logo will include, for the first time, IGA-branded ice cream, in addition to IGA bottled water and hot dog and hamburger buns. In addition, Hershey and Nabisco will join Kraft Foods Group to provide displays for IGA stores.

IGA said it has donated more than $385,000 over the past two years to the Wounded Warrior Project.

According to Dave Bennett, IGA senior vice president of procurement and exclusive brands, "We look forward to seeing how IGA's innovative retailers will use this event to benefit WWP’s important mission to honor and empower our nation's wounded service members."

WWP assists servicemen and women who have been physically or emotionally wounded by providing programs and services to aid their rehabilitation.
