ST. LOUIS — Schnucks offered those affected by Sunday’s severe weather system in the Midwest free refrigeration for their perishables.
Schnucks stores in Peoria, Pekin and Urbana, Ill., and other areas offered free emergency refrigeration in the wake of tornadoes and high winds that killed six, leveled homes and knocked out power.
Items must be in coolers, containers or bags, and must be sealed with names and phone numbers attached.
Schnucks promoted the service on Facebook, asking its “friends” to spread the word to anyone in need. Facebook users voiced appreciation for the offer.
One person wrote, “You guys are awesome! It’s why I continue my business with your stores!!! Thanks for helping!!"
Wrote another: “Great thing to do, prayers for all those impacted.”
