Publicis: Small Portions Among 2012 Trends

SEATTLE — Small portions, value-priced wine and culturally mixed foods are among the food trends to dominate in 2012, according to Publicis Consultants USA.

"Economic circumstances are prompting more than the usual degree of change in the highly adaptable food and beverage business, with higher food costs and budget-minded consumers driving innovation," Steve Bryant, Publicis president, said in a statement.

Among Publicis' Top 12 food and nutrition trends for 2012: smaller portions and mini-bites on restaurant menus and in grocery stores; millennials, through their worldly travels, will eat culturally mixed foods; wines from lesser-known growing regions; popcorn; local food and beverages, gourmet in-home dining, barramundi (Australian fish) and tumeric.
