February 13, 2012: Dairy, Snacks Pace Online Grocery Growth

Online grocery grew 11.6% year-over-year in 2011, compared with 2.5% growth for instore sales, according to data from Colchester, Vt.-based MyWebGrocer, which provides ecommerce and electronic marketing solutions for retailers and CPG companies. Dairy was the fastest-growing online grocery category in the 52-week period through Oct. 29, 2011, the company said, with online sales up 15% over year-ago levels.
