March 5, 2012: Retail Magazine Sales Plunge

Retail magazine sales were down 9.4% in the U.S. and Canada in 2011, according to a report from Metairie, La.-based MagNet, which tracks sales through POS data.The report noted that “a few major retailers” made changes in their magazine displays that had a negative impact on volume, and the bankruptcy of Borders — previously one of the top 10 retailers of magazines in the U.S. and Canada — “certainly didn’t help."
