New York-based online retailer FreshDirect has launched a new venture called FoodKick, an app that offers curated foodie selections as well as one-hour delivery.
The app is specifically geared to time-crunched, urban consumers. Features include daily curated selections; customizable meal ideas and solutions; produce, meat, fish, dairy and pantry staples; and food and alcohol pairings. FreshDirect will also highlight new and limited time offerings from partners like Cocktail Courier, Indie Fresh, Hungry Root and Mille-feuille.
Initially, the FoodKick delivery is only available to customers in Brooklyn and the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens.
The retailer will waive the delivery fee on qualified orders to first-time customers for the first 30 days.
“Great fresh food has always been the core of our business,” Jason Ackerman, FreshDirect's co-founder and CEO, said in a press release. “FoodKick extends that passion to a growing consumer base, serving up exciting food solutions and tailored ideas every time a customer opens the app.”
