MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores here said it has named Lonnie W. McCaffety to the position of vice president of store operations. McCaffety most recently served as a regional vice president for the retailer's New Orleans region. He joined Family Dollar as an assistant store manager in 1990 and has held various management positions since. As regional vice president, McCaffety was instrumental in helping Family Dollar recover quickly following Hurricane Katrina, the company said.
PRICE CHOPPER NAMES 3 DIRECTORS
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets here announced last week that Larry Ritzert has been promoted to director of meat merchandising, while Scott Sabatino and Frank Manion have become zone directors. Ritzert will be responsible for sales, margin, variety, inventory, advertising and long-term planning for the meat department in the 115-store chain, and will report directly to Mark Brown, vice president of perishables. Sabatino will be responsible for a group of stores in the Capital District counties around Albany, and Manion will oversee a group of stores in Pennsylvania and the Syracuse, N.Y., areas. They will report, respectively, to Jody Plonski and Al Provancher, regional vice presidents of operations. Ritzert came to Price Chopper in 2007 from Supervalu in Cincinnati, where he was meat/seafood director. His most recent position at Price Chopper was senior category manager, meat merchandising. Sabatino joined Price Chopper in 1988 and has been a store manager, Center Store coordinator and, most recently, regional non-perishable merchandiser. Manion, who has been with Price Chopper since 1987, has held several operational management positions, most recently regional perishable merchandiser.
