GMA Names Gruber to VP Post

WASHINGTON — Grocery Manufacturers Association on Monday said it has named Michael R. Gruber vice president of federal affairs, effective Oct. 1.

Gruber is currently senior policy advisor at the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Prior to his work on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Gruber worked for Rep. Tom Latham, R-Iowa, for more than eight years, first as chief of staff, and later as appropriations associate. In this role, Gruber served as chief liaison to the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development and the Food and Drug Administration. He got his start in government as a legislative assistant for Rep. George Nethercutt, R-Wash.

Gruber will report to Louis Finkel, GMA’s executive vice president for government affairs. In his new role, Gruber will be responsible for managing all federal policy issues and advocacy activities on behalf of the food, beverage and consumer products industry.
