MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu here on Friday said it has promoted Janel Haugarth to executive vice president of merchandising and logistics, expanding her responsibilities to include merchandising for the whole organization.

Steve Jungmann, who had been executive vice president, merchandising has left the company "effective immediately," Supervalu said.

Haugarth, 55, is a 30-year Supervalu veteran who most recently was executive vice president of Supervalu and president and chief operating officer of the Company's supply chain services division. In her new role, she will be responsible for all merchandising across the company's own banners as well as its independent wholesale customers, with the exception of Save-A-Lot. She will continue to oversee supply chain and logistics, and will continue to report directly to Craig Herkert, president and chief executive officer Supervalu.

"By consolidating responsibility of our merchandising activities under Janel's leadership, we will accelerate progress on our company's business transformation," said Herkert. "This new structure will enable us to better leverage our scale with the supplier community and meet our customers' needs with the right products at the right time and at the right price."
