United Names Taylor EVP, CEO

LUBBOCK, Texas — United Supermarkets said last week that Robert Taylor has been named executive vice president and chief executive officer. He had been serving in the role on an interim basis since the resignation of Dan Sanders on Feb. 8. Taylor, who joined the company in 2007, had been vice president of logistics — overseeing the company's distribution operations — before being named interim CEO. Prior to joining United, he was president of R.C. Taylor Distributing, which was acquired by United. Separately, United last week said it has hired Doug Pellock as director of facility support and development, Pellock previously owned his own commercial construction company and also spent 10 years as director of construction for Life Time Fitness.

WEIS MARKETS NAMES FOUR SVPS

SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets here last week said it has promoted four executives: Rusty Graber, Jim Marcil, Jay Ropietski and Kurt Schertle have been named senior vice presidents. They report to Weis Markets' president and chief executive officer, David J. Hepfinger. Graber has been promoted to senior vice president, real estate and development. He joined the company in 1989 and had been vice president of real estate. Marcil joined the company in 2002 and had been vice president of human resources. He is now senior vice president of human resources. Ropietski, now senior vice president of operations, joined the company in 2008 and had been vice president of operations. Schertle joined the company in 2009 and had been vice president of sales and merchandising. He is now senior vice president of sales and merchandising.
