SAN DIEGO — Bumble Bee Foods has expanded a recall of its Chunk White Albacore and Chunk Light Tuna because the products don’t meet the company’s standards for seal tightness.
Bumble Bee initially announced the recall of 22,500 cases on Wednesday after identifying an issue on a manufacturing line, which has been corrected. It’s now recalling 51,000 cases distributed for sale between Jan. 17 and March 6.
Loose seals or seems can result in product contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens and lead to illness if consumed. There have been no reports of illness.
