Ice cream variety pack distributed in 15 states and D.C. recalled

Mango bars could be contaminated with Salmonella

Tropicale Foods, Modesto, Calif., has issued a voluntary recall of 5,224 units of Helados Mexico Mini Cream Variety Pack due to a possible Salmonella contamination.

The company believes the mango bars could be contaminated after finished product testing revealed the potential problem, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Variety packs with the best by date of “MO Best By 10/11/2025” should be pulled immediately by retailers. Tropicale Foods has ceased distribution of the affected product.

The variety packs were distributed to retail locations in Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

No illnesses have been reported and Tropicale is currently investigating what might have caused the contamination.
