Raw Tuna Associated With 141 Person Outbreak

ATLANTA — One hundred and forty one people in 20 states have been infected with Salmonella Bareilly associated with frozen raw yellowfish tuna, according to a statement by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday.

Moon Marine USA Corporation has recalled the tuna product, called Nakoachi Scrape. Nakaochi Scrape is used in sushi, sashimi and cerviche sold in restaurants and supermarkets, and “is tuna backmeat that is scraped from the bones of tuna,” the CDC noted.

Twenty-one consumers have been hospitalized.
