Dierbergs Introduces New Store Format

DES PERES, Mo. — The recently opened Dierbergs Market here features an expanded cafe and pharmacy compared to its previous stores.

“Our intent was to meet and then exceed customer expectations of what makes a store a Dierbergs store,” said Dierbergs President Greg Dierberg, in a statement. “So we focused on areas of growing interest such as meal convenience, wine selection, culinary education, and health and wellness. The result is a store designed not only to be shopped but also experienced.”

The market’s expanded pharmacy and wellness program includes an in-store pharmacy that has partnered with St. Luke’s Convenient Care. Nurse practitioners will be onsite all week to treat minor injuries and illnesses. Additional wellness programs hosted by St. Luke’s or Dierbergs departments will address healthy eating and how to cook for specific dietary restrictions.

A Culinary Event Center will also be housed at the location. In addition to hosting cooking classes for up to 34 students, the space will be used for chef-led wine tastings via Skype. It will also be made available for private events.

The store will present live music on the weekends in addition to selling wine by the glass and bottled beer from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. daily. Wine-tasting dispensers provide an opportunity to purchase 1 oz., 2 oz. and 4 oz. samples. At any one time, the in-store sampling list comprises 28 wines.
