DLM STARTS GLUTEN SUPPORT GROUP

DAYTON, Ohio — The three-unit Dorothy Lane Market has launched the Gluten-Free Food Lover's Club, a free support group for people with gluten sensitivities. The first meeting is this Saturday, Sept. 22, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Washington Square store. Participants will get information on healthy and nutritious gluten-free options, and a store tour at the end of the meeting. The club was the brainchild of store associate C.A. Diltz, who has benefited from a gluten-free diet. In 2003, Diltz felt tired and achy. She was diagnosed as being anemic and was prescribed Celebrex. After the medication caused stomach problems, Diltz tried a rotation diet and found she had reactions to wheat, corn and soy. She then switched to organic, gluten-free foods and nutritional supplements. Now known internally as the “gluten-free guru,” Diltz is in charge of creating and updating Dorothy Lane's gluten-free product list. “She is always happy to assist our customers and educate them about gluten sensitivities,” according to Dorothy Lane.
