Reasor’s Launches Food-Scoring System

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Reasor’s has implemented the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System.

Under NuVal, foods receive a score of 1 to 100 based on a proprietary algorithm; the higher the score, the higher the nutrition. Scores are posted on shelf tags.

“Our goal at Reasor’s is to help our customers shop well, eat well and live well,” said Ward Dunn, vice president of marketing and merchandising at Reasor’s, which operates 17 food stores and two convenience stores. “We believe NuVal helps us achieve that goal by helping our customers find the nutritional value in more than tens of thousands of products on our store shelves.”

The NuVal database currently has more than 90,000 scored foods, with more being added each week.

NuVal is a joint venture of Topco Associates and Griffin Hospital, Derby Conn.
