DALLAS — Convenience retailer 7-Eleven plans to have 700 stores offering foods prepared in-store by the end of the year, following the success of a prepared-food pilot program in southeastern Virginia, according to a report by CSP Daily News. Launched in March, the pilot program presented shoppers with a menu of hot foods including pizza, chicken wings, chicken tenders, Jamaican beef patties and cinnamon churros, with most prepared using high-speed TurboChef Ovens. The program led to higher revenues at the 100 stores where it was tested, and, based on that success, 7-Eleven officials said that the company will continue rolling out the new foodservice menu to 800 stores per year, until it is available at all of the chain’s 6,200 North American stores.
