WASHINGTON — Union workers at Supervalu-owned grocery stores in Philadelphia and Washington said they will lend support to their striking counterparts in New England, urging the retailer to resume contract talks with striking warehouse workers at Shaw’s.

In a joint statement, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 400 in Washington, representing employees of Shoppers Food & Drug, and Local 1776, representing Acme workers in Philadelphia, said their members would wear stickers in their workplaces calling for a quick and fair resolution to the dispute.

Around 300 workers at Shaw’s distribution center in Methuen, Mass., represented by UFCW Local 371, walked off the job March 7.
