Affiliated Foods CFO Guilty of Fraud

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The former chief financial officer of Affiliated Foods Southwest here was found guilty of conspiracy and bank fraud for his role in a check-kiting scheme at the cooperative wholesaler, which liquidated through bankruptcy last year.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The former chief financial officer of Affiliated Foods Southwest here was found guilty of conspiracy and bank fraud for his role in a check-kiting scheme at the cooperative wholesaler, which liquidated through bankruptcy last year.

A jury here found Alexander “Lex” Martinez guilty of conspiring to commit bank fraud, aiding and abetting bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution as part of a conspiracy to falsify financial statements and write bad checks to cover Affiliated’s losses. John Mills, the former chief executive officer of Affiliated, previous pleaded guilty to similar charges and was sentenced to 41 months in prison.
