Ahold Debuts ‘Healthy Ideas’ Label

WASHINGTON — Stop & Shop and Giant Stores are introducing a new shelf label to point out healthy foods, said Jim Dwyer, chief business development officer, Ahold USA, speaking at the Ahold USA “Media Days” meeting here Monday. The “Healthy Ideas” logo will accompany about 10% of the products at Stop & Shop and Giant stores, he said. It is meant to highlight items that would meet or exceed certain criteria set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration concerning healthy foods. The new symbol is part of an effort to boost Stop & Shop’s and Giant’s credibility for providing “great food,” said Dwyer, who leads branding activities at Stop & Shop and Giant.
