WEST HAVEN, Conn. — An Aldi store set to open here next week will mark the 1,000th U.S. location in the chain, the Batavia, Ill.-based retailer said Wednesday. Aldi opened 100 new stores in 2008, including the new markets of Rhode Island and Florida, and is on pace to open more than 80 stores in 2009, the company said.
