MONTVALE, N.J. — A&P here has begun sending shoppers offers via text message and linking savings to their loyalty card when a reply message is received. Discounts are applied automatically when the card is swiped at the checkout.
An offer sent last week was good for 75 cents off Bagel Bites Frozen Snacks. Consumers were instructed to text 127511 to 224466 to retrieve the offer. A&P's Waldbaums, Food Emporium, Pathmark and Superfresh banners are participating.
The capability is powered by Zavers, which will continue to facilitate another digital couponing effort with the retailer. It allows shoppers to visit their A&P banner’s website, “shop” for discounts and link savings to their loyalty card.
