A&P Names O’Boyle EVP

MONTVALE, N.J. — A&P on Friday named Tom O’Boyle to the position of executive vice president, an appointment it said completed a new management team under Sam Martin.

MONTVALE, N.J. — A&P on Friday named Tom O’Boyle to the position of executive vice president, an appointment it said completed a new management team under Sam Martin.

O’Boyle will be responsible for leading the merchandising, marketing, and supply and logistics departments to develop a cohesive synergy between these critical functions. The appointment is effective immediately.

O’Boyle has more than 25 years of retail experience in merchandising and marketing. He most recently was president and senior vice president of food and drug for Sears. Prior to that O’Boyle was the senior vice president of merchandising and marketing for Albertsons. He has also held management positions at Jewel Food Stores.

“Tom is an expert merchant with a proven track record of aligning merchandising offers with exciting marketing programs to meet customers’ needs,” Martin, A&P’s chief executive officer, said in a statement. “His appointment completes my dynamic executive management team, which will lead our company’s turnaround initiative.”

Along with Martin, who was named CEO last month, A&P has added several top executives in recent weeks including Frederic Brace, chief administrative officer; and Carter Knox and Paul Hertz as executive vice presidents.
