A&P Wins Warehouse Eviction Effort

A judge in A&P's bankruptcy case has ordered Grocery Haulers Inc. to vacate a warehouse that it had been leasing from A&P for $1 a year, according to reports.

AVENEL, N.J. — A judge in A&P's bankruptcy case has ordered Grocery Haulers Inc. to vacate a warehouse here that it had been leasing from A&P for $1 a year, according to reports.

A&P had been seeking to reject the lease so it could sell or lease the property for more money, according to Bloomberg Business Week.

Grocery Haulers, which provided trucking for A&P, had argued that it was entitled to remain through the term of the lease. According to the Business Week report, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert D. Drain said it wasn't a "true lease" and ordered Grocery Haulers to "vacate the premises as promptly as practicable."

Executives at Grocery Haulers could not be reached for comment.
