CHANDLER, Ariz. — Bashas' here said it is partnering with the Salvation Army to collect monetary donations at the checkstands for victims of the Wallow fire, the second largest fire in the state's history.

Because the most urgent need is for donations to assist people displaced by the fire, the company emphasized that 100% of all donations will go specifically to help only Wallow fire victims.

“Thousands of our fellow Arizonans are facing heartbreaking loss right now,” the company said in a memo to employees, “and we knew our members, vendors and customers would once again want to be a part of the relief effort.”

The Wallow fire started May 29 as a small blaze but began to grow two days later, and by Tuesday — more than a week after it started — it had spread to nearly 400,000 acres.
