Bashas’ Website Offers Updated Recall Info

CHANDLER, Ariz. — Bashas’ is using a widget to provide up-to-date food recall information at bashas.com.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration started providing widgets earlier this year during the massive peanut product recall. It also provided a pistachio recall widget.

Bashas’ and other food retailers, including Publix Super Markets, Lakeland, Fla., were among the retailers that offered the peanut recall widget. The widget Bashas’ is using provides information about all types of food recalls, not just those related to peanut and pistachio news.

A widget is an application that displays content directly on a web page. Once retailers add the widget to their websites, there is no technical maintenance; the FDA automatically updates content.
