Workers at IGA stores in British Columbia this week authorized union leaders to call a strike as negotiations for a new contract continue.

BURNABY, British Columbia — Workers at IGA stores in British Columbia this week authorized union leaders to call a strike as negotiations for a new contract continue. According to United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1518 here, IGA’s current wage offer “falls far short of what both Safeway and Save-On/Overwaitea members settled for in their recent contract negotiations.” The sides have been bargaining since late November.
