SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Big Y Foods said Thursday it plans to open a new, 45,000-square-foot prototype store in Berkshire County.
The store, one of the chain's Big Y World Class Markets, will include a pharmacy and wellness center offering various health screenings. The store will offer a range of prepared meals, including store-made pizzas, rotisserie chicken dinners, cooked-to-order fish and chips, and a broad selection of specialty and organic foods.
The store, slated to open in summer 2011, will be Big Y’s 57th and "will represent an investment of $15 million into the community," the company said. The location is the former site of Diesel Dan’s, and had been used as a fueling facility
