CGA Promotes Scholz, Revamps Website

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Grocers Association here said Monday it has promoted Doug Scholz to vice president, business development and marketing, a newly created post.

CGA said Scholz will be responsible for leading CGA's member engagement and revenue development, and overseeing the creation and execution of marketing strategies to enhance CGA's overall image and reach.

"His knowledge and experience in business development and marketing, coupled with his willingness to think outside the box, has been a tremendous asset to the association," said Ron Fong, CGA president.

Scholz joined CGA in July 2010 as senior director of business development and strategic partnerships. Prior to joining CGA, Scholz was director of partner marketing for the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Separately, CGA said it has launched a new and improved website, which includes new tools to help members engage more easily in grass-roots advocacy and an improved "members only" section.

"Our goal was to provide a user-friendly website that was easy to navigate," Fong said.

New features include weekly updates on legislation impacting the industry; a new member advocacy platform that allows members to communicate directly with elected officials; the ability to update personal membership files more easily; and the ability to access California Grocer magazine online.
