KEENE, N.H. — C&S Wholesale Grocers here announced yesterday that it will "significantly increase use of environmentally responsible initiatives" in its operations in an effort to reduce the company's carbon footprint.
C&S said it will conduct energy audits in all of its buildings, implement energy efficiency measures in its warehouses, study the feasibility of using additional hydropower, continue recycling and waste management efforts, and continue to invest in technology to reduce the number of miles traveled by its trucks.
"Environmental sustainability is important to us," said Scott Charlton, executive vice president of operations for C&S, in a statement. "We're gathering and interpreting data and using it to evaluate improvements in our business operations."
