NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — The School Nutrition Association here said Tuesday it has selected Frank di Pasquale as its new chief executive officer.

The School Nutrition Association is a national nonprofit professional organization that provides high-quality, low-cost meals to students, according to its website. Its mission is to advance good nutrition for all children, the site says.

"This association is doing God's work," Di Pasquale told SN. "What it does has a real impact on children in terms of health, nutrition, combating obesity and spreading education. It's a very noble cause and the kind of thing I felt I wanted to do with the rest of my life to make a difference."

Di Pasquale will join SNA on June 20 and work closely with Barbara Belmont, the outgoing CEO, through a transition period that will include the association's annual national conference July 10-13 in Nashville. She will leave the association in late July.

Di Pasquale spent 14 years with the National Grocers Association before resigning late last year. He announced plans to become CEO of the National Spinal Research Association, "but I decided that was not really a good fit," he said, noting that he never accepted the job.
