LONDON — Dunnhumby here, whose loyalty programs have become integral parts of Tesco and Kroger, announced today that founders Edwina Dunn and Clive Humby will step away from the day-to-day management of the company while maintaining non-executive director roles.
The Board is implementing a succession plan with Simon Hay, former chief executive officer, of Dunnhumby USA, succeeding Dunn as of March 1, 2011.
Tesco has a greater than 50% stake in Dunnhumby, while in the U.S., Kroger and Dunnhumby USA have been 50-50 partners since 2002.
Hay has worked for Dunnhumby for 19 years and was the first full time employee Dunn hired. He joined the board in 1995, established Dunnhumby USA in 2003 and returned to run the UK business in 2009.
"I am honored and delighted to take on Edwina's role," said Hay in a statement. "She has taught me about great leadership and how to succeed. I aim to keep the momentum and culture of success she has built."
